Okay, thanks for the details. It'll knock my plane out of the LSA
category but I'm planning to put an in-flight adjustable pitch Ivoprop
on the Corvair when I build this, so I should be able to get a decent
climb rate via some feathering even with heavy loads. I know Ivoprop has
had some issues

A little better than that, but not much. Depends on density altitude also,
as well as which prop I had on the plane at the time, of course.

Yes he is and probably knows more about KR's than anyone. And if you didn't
know next year's gathering will be in Chino and he is the host so it might be
worth the effort to make the trip. Don't know if a date has been set yet but i
You can save quite a bit scratch building. And by the way you can put a KR2
canopy on a KRS2 fuselage. I did it to save Money.

Chris,
Welcome to the group! I would suggest you checkout Mark Langford's airplane on
the KRNet. I believe he is one of the highest time KR flyers with the 3100cc
Corvair. I would also suggest that this airplane is very adaptable. Show up to
any gathering and no two will be the same. If you ne
I didn't answer your question though. I added your 485 pounds to the empty
weight of my KR2S to get 1245 pounds gross weight. I think that's pretty
realistic. Maybe you can probably shave some off of that, but not a whole
lot. I don't have much of an interior in my plane, and I didn't do any

My plane weighed 760 pounds empty when finished. Alt

Thanks for the reply. One question though, 1245 lbs? The empty weight of
a stock KR2S is listed on the site as 520 lbs, assuming they're being
optimistic about that I'd assume 600lbs being a more realistic empty
weight. That plus two 180lb people, plus 30lbs of luggage and 95lbs of

I'm not sure why a KR2S airframe kit would cost $2000 more than a KR2
other systems.
thank you

Thank you for your wisdom.
I actually just got off the phone with Steve from NVaero's builder
support hotline, and after getting some clarification from him about how
the building from plans process goes with the KR planes, I'm going to do
the plans method after all and build a KR2S. I very lik

Well my question is pretty simple. I searched the archive for several
variations of my question and found nothing relevant, so I apologize if
this has been asked before. I plan to build the KR2 (standard KR2,
