Howdy folks...

This is my first post on this mail list, thank you for letting me join!

Well my question is pretty simple. I searched the archive for several
variations of my question and found nothing relevant, so I apologize if
this has been asked before. I plan to build the KR2 (standard KR2, not
the KR2S) and I'm planning to install the 3100cc Corvair engine, which
is quite a bit more powerful than the 2100cc engine the NVaero site
bases their specs from. However it's also heavier. I don't plan to fly
loaded down very often, I may take my wife with some luggage to Florida
once a year for vacation. The site lists 420lbs as the useful load for
the KR2, but with my wife and I flying, along with 95lbs of fuel, we'd
be at 485lbs useful load. Well if I were flying with that 2100cc VW
engine at that weight, yeah I'd be a little concerned, but with such a
stronger engine, is it really a problem going over the gross weight by
65-75lbs? 100lbs even? If I'm right, wouldn't that just require hotter
speeds during takeoff and landing? Surely the airframe can handle a bit
more weight, yeah?

I'm definitely a rookie though, and would love to hear this mailgroup's
wisdom on this matter, and I'm a rookie that will take your words
seriously. Thank you!
