My plane weighed 760 pounds empty when finished. Although I think I could build another one at 725 pounds, especially if I left out the "kitchen sink" instrument panel, KRs that weigh under 600 pounds will be hard to find, regardless of engine. Check out the KR performance specs at http://www.krnet.org/kr-info.html, and you'll see three KRs out of 41 that weigh below 600 pounds, most with lighter VW engines. And as I've said before, decreasing weight may come at a price in safety, as you leave off things like redundant fuel pumps and other backup systems...
