Welcome to the group! I would suggest you checkout Mark Langford's airplane on 
the KRNet. I believe he is one of the highest time KR flyers with the 3100cc 
Corvair. I would also suggest that this airplane is very adaptable. Show up to 
any gathering and no two will be the same. If you need to make the fuselage a 
little wider, shorter, longer, whatever then do it. I am at the opposite end of 
the spectrum from you and your wife and my "enlarged" 2S fits me like a glove. 
If I did it again I would make it just a little wider. Keeping it stock will 
allow some use of pre-molded parts but there is nothing truly difficult about 
building the airplane...just time consuming.
