Can you point me to a reference on how to implement one? I'd be happy to do it.
I personally use it by defining a search keyword and using it directly from the
URL bar. I believe Firefox supports them natively, for Safari I use the
KeySearch extension: http://www.macosxtips.co.uk/keysearch/help
