So your complaint is that it's like Puppet? That's pretty weak. I've never used Puppet so I just see this as expanded Cfengine functionality. Why should I care if something else had similar functionality first? Cfengine has it now. Yay! More than one way to accomplish a goal? You must hate Perl then. Everyone needs to struggle and jump through hoops because you like to? You continue to do things the hard way if you wish, if the Cfengine developers want to make something easier, I'm okay with that. There are a lot of situations within Cfengine where you can accomplish the same goal multiple ways. What makes this particular one so bad? I honestly don't know how this is going to work, but I've had situations where I eventually just gave up trying to figure out the correct layer of classes to get the thing to work like I wanted. If this can simplify those situations, I'm all for it. And since you quoted the reference manual: "This option is only used only for documentation currently."
