I suspect that your Linux partition will be either EXT2 or EXT3, and for
Freedos you can use vfat.

update a screen unless I hold down a moust button, or a shift key (or some key).
Have you tried holding down a shift key to see if your CAD then updates the
screen faster?

I'm unable to get a bridge network setup working for Freedos in dosemu. If I
install Freedos in qemu then networking comes right up. But in qemu, Freedos
runs about 1/4 as fast.
Has anyone had luck getting Freedos to network from within dosemu? If so, how
did you do it?

I've also managed to get arachne running on the network.
The peculiar thing is that the keyboard and mouse seem to interfere with the

having xdosemu finding tap0, now when arachne starts is complains that it can't
find a config file and gets hung up for awhile trying to connect with DHCP.

seemed to work fine, as well as did the cursor keys.
I've heard that virtualbox might take a bit more tuning that vmware, so I bet
you'll get it to work fine if you play with it.

I run freedos in vmware. I've not tried it in virtualbox. I'm running mostly
small apps, a forth compiler I wrote, the Microsoft Quick Pascal compiler, the
Microsoft Quick C compiler.
No keyboard problems I'm aware of. I'm not sure I've tried the mouse. Let me

I don't know what exactly you need W95 for, but I've
switched to Linux (Debian) to get away from all that
license hullaballu. For compensation, I get thousands
of applications, programming languages, etc.
Freedos runs very well in a dosemu window of Linux.
I suspect you all know that already, and
I think that in dos, a call by direct reference is a
transfer, and there will be no return.
You should be able to reference with a "call"
statement, like "call newsub", which will result in a
return to the calling routine after the called batch
file is completed.

40a. Nansi40a did not give 4dos directory colors but 40d does. Finally
I can get rid of the proprietary ansi.sys.

I use Freedos via dosemu in Debian Linux. The Freedos
version is 0.82. I've had no issues with it yet, but
an earlier version ran on a DOS system crashed and
took the entire disk system with it.
I have DRDOS available on my Linux system
My Debian distro has Freedos 0.82. Is that a stable
version? I've used earlier versions that would crash,
corrupting the disk system.

When typing in dosemu the following letters won't print at all:
Uppercase A
Uppercase S
Shift 6 aka ^
Any idea why this is happening and how to fix?
