+1 to both of these, with the addition that we consider a consultancy
that could support us in authoring a statistically and sociologically
valid survey as well. This is critically important as a foundational
step, let's get some experts in here. (Entire PhDs get written on survey

Budget is naturally important, esp. in terms of timing around yearly

Agreed. My point for all here is
I am aware *that* Kevin is looking into an event in Africa at some
unspecified time in the future. That he has considered South Africa
and/or Ghana. To the best of my knowledge there is no location or plan
as of yet.

No, it is still in the research stage so only basic info has been discussed
on planners.

For the Africa
For the Africa event, Rich is appraised of my work and status. No worries
there and I am working hard to get a detailed plan of attack for his review
and discussion on planners.

With my ASF Director hat on
Yes, Outreachy works fairly similarly to GSoC during the mentorship part.
I’ve been mentoring in it over in the Jenkins project the past several
months where we’ve also been doing GSoC for a while as well. You can also
sometimes get a “free” intern if the Outreachy general fund can afford

5 or 10 interns).

(Outreachy, etc)

General thoughts
1) Training
Would it be a good idea to pay for training for any ASF leaders (board etc)
who wanted it?
2) Events
Are there events around D&I with similar orgs that it might be worth
sending people (board or committe members) to participate in? Or to bring
people to ApacheCon.
