Hi folks - let's please keep the discussion focused on *brainstorming
initiatives* we'd like to get funding for. A brainstorm is an avenue to
just share ideas, not one to discuss details on execution or planning. I
want to keep the discussion as clean and focused as possible to let
everyone chime in, specially new folks.

On a separate but important note, I want to echo Joan and Rich, the D&I
committee *won't* take over tasks or work done by TAC (Travel Assistance
Committee) or the Conferences committee. If we come with ideas of launching
an event in a new region or creating funds to bring under represented
groups to our major conferences, we should work with them directly. Not
saying we shouldn't pursue initiatives here, but rather that we should join
forces.

Ok, with this two clarification points, please let's the ideas keep coming.
I'd love to hear from new folks!
