So what are you waiting for Joe? It's got a shoal keel for a C&C!
BTW, your YC website does not give lat/long or show the club on a chart.
Sorry I can't make the chicken and beer. Looks like an easy sail up the
Bay Saturday.

Kevin,
I have a RAM mount on the binnacle guard with an IPad holder that fits
around the waterproof case. A normal USB port puts out 2.1 amps. An IPad
needs 2.5 amps. Fred Street found me a 2.5 amp socket on EBay in
Australia. If you go wth a 2.1 amp socket your screen will go dead at the

Alan,
Are you able to reach all of the bolts through the access ports? The nut
actually came off one of my forward bolts. I'm going to try putting a nut
in a socket and hope I get lucky enough to have it catch. I cant get my
hand in there. (I was able to tighten the aft bolts.) Any other

On my 35/3 it is set to 14 degrees. The Kanzai transmission is 2.6 to 1.
The newer models can be adjusted under water. The old ones cannot.
I agree that Fred Hutchinson is the best place to start.

My 35/3 has a molded insert for the vanity, sink etc. Working on the pump
is a PIA! I've had to replace the pump twice in the last 2 years. The
Jabsco pumps with the quick release hose fittings make it a little less
painful. My only advice is to get a good cushion to kneel on and a wide

John,
The Quantum cruising laminate that they sell now has alight layer of dacron
to add UV protection to the mylar film. I could look at it for you, but I
am a lousy judge of old sails. The weight is probably the weight of the
dacron and has nothing to do with strength.

I have a tape drive main and am very happy with it. It is a racing sail.
I am unsure of the age. I did have a small tear repaired and new webbing
put on the corners after the Bermuda race. The local UK loft has undergone
a bunch of management changes. I don't knoww where the sails are m
I'd bet Atlantic Spars in Annapolis could make them.

My cheap Jabsco is on its second season. I did replace the joker valve
this year, but it was a simple process. Otherwise, it works fine.

We have a furler and dip-pole. We use a piece of velcro to hold the sheets
to the headstay below the drum. i'm not on the bow, but some very
experienced bowmen tell me its best on my boat.

It turns out the wire was not connected to a power source! The wire was
good. I have a terminal block for the instruments in the NavPod under the
deck, so I cut the wire, added eye fittings and connected to the power
supply for the GPS. I'm not worried about the power drain of 2 tiny LEDs.

No one has suggested Plan C - Buy another (bigger) boat!
Seriously, a very good discussion.

I've never owned an A4, but I grew up on gas powered fishing boats. Most
of the problems we had (and there were many) were ignition related. Bad
coils, points, distributors, wires, fouled plugs. I'd look into the
electronic ignition module if compression were good. My 2 cents.

There are usually two bolts. A pivot point and a bolt on the tension arm.
Loosen both, slip off the old belt and replace. The hard part is
tensioning the belt and tightening the nut on arm at the same time. That
is where the device Edd used helps.

Kevin,
I'd use West Six/10 epoxy cartridges. Easy to work with and no waste
except for what is left in the tip. Buy lots of tips if you are doing it
over several weeks. I don't know if GitRot is strong enough.
