Just remember that the clamp inside the pedestal holds both the throttle AND
the transmission cables on two-control systems; and in the case of my boat,
above the clamp the two cables go around either side of the steering shaft, so
you have to pull the pedestal to get the cables out the bottom.

(or other over-current protection device) in the line, as close to the battery

connected through a protected cable to the house battery positive bus bar

Probably best to wait to confirm; but on my 1981 30mkI, they were the 6"
plates. A little like the "monkey trap"; you could get your hand in, but if

One 4' x 8' sheet of 3/8" thick CAST acrylic (NOT extruded), in a pleasing
bronze color should do you. A plastics house will probably sell to you by the
square foot; then you only need to buy what you need. They can also cut &
route to your shape, and flame-polish the cut edges to avoid premat
Jim -- I had always heard that Lexan (polycarbonate) was generally much less
resistant to UV exposure than Plexiglas (acrylic); has that improved in recent
years?

It's called the SPOT Connect, and I had one with us on Colin Kilgour's
adventurous delivery a year ago; I could send brief text messages from offshore
that had lat/long in them, noting our position. These messages also showed up
as locations on a map on the SPOT website. Pretty slick!
