No brass! Bronze only.
I have qest fittings also. No one has questioned them.
I would not use Marelon. Many will disagree.

Josh,
I have had several failures of the grey butyl plumbing pipe. I have
replaced it with PEX tubing. It is flexible and easy to work with and
available in many places. I find RV stores a good place to pick it up. The
fittings are compression type and will mate with the existing plumbing.
Joel,
For the record, the boat came with marelon. I have had absolutely no
problems with it and don't plan to replace it. It seems like a corrosion
free, light weight solution. What don't you like about it?

I redid my boat with Pex. Skip the marine store, pex is pex is pex. Go to

Just research the fittings. I used Watts plastic snap fittings, they are
awesome.

When I rebuilt my fresh water system I used PEX tubing and fittings,
which seems to be the standard for RV and Marine use these days. Note,
however, that some of the old grey tubing was left in place, since
replacing it would involve some deconstruction of the boat that I didn't

Red brass is ok, but about the only things made from it in common plumbing are
chrome plated and bare pipe nipples. The term "red
brass" may refer to a couple of different alloys, but all have around 85%
copper. It is really a type of bronze as far as I am
concerned, and all bronzes look redder i

I agree on the PEX. FWIW, when I redid my plumbing, I added a large, household

pump. I change the element every spring and have good tasting potable water at
all times.
