Curtis, I used the line drawings from an article on the 35 Mk I, not very
detailed. The waterlines were 1/4" apart so I took it to Office Max and had
enlargements made, 3X and 4X. I was tempted to build the 4X, but it just would
have been too big! Found a nice piece of 5/4 Basswood and resawed and planed to
3/4" for the lifts. I even resawed and planed some down to 3/8" and doubled
them at the waterline where the hull makes a radical turn, but that wasn't
necessary. Icut out the profile from the plans, traced it on the first lift,
cut out along the next waterline and traced it on the next lift, etc. Stacked
them, glued them (they tend to slip with the glue and clamps, Be careful) Most
of the gross shaping was with a 6" random orbit sander. One tip, attach a block
of wood to the back to use as a handle and to clamp in a vise for shaping.

I shaped the keel and rudder separately out of thinner stock and attached them
to the hull.

I think I spent more time on the painting than building. It seemed like I'd get
a perfect paint job but the color would be wrong, or I'd get the correct color,
but I'd find a run or sag.

When all was done, I'm sure someone very knowledgable, like my brother who can
look at line drawings and tell you all about the hull, might notice something
out of whack, but not the rest of the 99.9%!

Chris,
Thanks I was hoping for someone to encourage me in that direction. i am quite
the hands on type and have made cigar humidors in the past.
Just not sure the process and how to make it to scale. I do have the original
drawings for my C&C 30MK1 and all the factory build sheets as well.
maybe I will try this?
Any help on the process Would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers, Curtis

Curtis, my brother works in the model shop at the Naval Academy and promised me
a half hull of Pradel for Christmas when I bought her 14 years ago! I finally
decided to make one myself with zero experience and minimal tools. It came out
fantastic and I have a great deal of satisfaction when I look at it on the
wall. It was a lot easier than I expected.
