A Laser 28 did the 360 nm Marblehead to Halifax race a couple of times. The
interior of the boat looked like a washing machine gone wrong when they
arrived. They said they had a good time, although one of the crew kissed the
dock when they arrived.

Joel,
Mine appears to be the original one. It's a bit noisy, but it works. If it
trips the breaker you could have a bad connection causing it to draw too
much current. The electric motor could be shot as well. You may want to
remove it and check it on the bench.

Forget the screws and the corrosion worries: just use 3M 5200 and glue them
on, common consensus here says the 5200 bond will never break... lol

Joel,
Assuming the increase in current draw is not from the switch, corroded
connectors, or corroded wires Jabsco and its resellers sell rebuild kits and
parts.
When going off on a long trip away from easy access to suppliers I carry a

I would not worry about it.

the bronze offers strength and corrosion resistance but is more money...
Then there is that little issue that SS has when it gets n
This sounds like another kit boat to be avoided. It might be ok, but the

Very often, when boat ads read like this one, the boat is being sold by
someone who inherited it, or won it in a divorce. The up side is you can
go examine the boat, so you have a good idea of what it needs, and make
an offer knowing that the seller, who has no emotional attachment, just

Ha, missed that. I was surprised by the lack of detail on the
boat systems -- mast has a radar dome, main cabin has a diesel
heater, a few electronics visible but no comment on any of it.
Definitely some red flags.
Several years back I bought a sma
If I remember correctly the Mirage 30 has a cast aluminum stem fitting for the

Over time these would tend to fail due to crevice cracks. Welded Stainless
replacements are available,
so not a big deal..just something to maybe take a close look for.

All,
The shower sump pump trips the breaker as soon as I turn it on. It worked
