Joel,

 

Mine appears to be the original one.  It's a bit noisy, but it works.  If it
trips the breaker you could have a bad connection causing it to draw too
much current.  The electric motor could be shot as well.  You may want to
remove it and check it on the bench.

All,

 

The shower sump pump trips the breaker as soon as I turn it on.  It worked a
few weeks ago.  It looks like the original diaphram-type pump and is mounted
under the sink.  There is a manual pull switch in the head.

 

I did not have time to remove it to see if it is clogged with debris and
check the wiring.  

 

Any recommendations on possible causes (other than being 30 years old)?  

 

I have a spare Jabsco ParMax 4.  Is that a suitable replacement?
