What version of alsa are you trying to install? I remember seeing this error

I downloaded cvs alsa (5/22/02) using the commands listed at the cvs
page, and ran ./cvscompile in alsa-driver. When that didn't work, I
cleaned up and tried:

I have a Dell OptiPlex GX1 that had Mandrake 8.2 installed and sound was
working (using a previous ALSA version - 0.5.12a I think). I upgraded
kernels and ALSA and sound stopped working. At first, I only thought I
had one change to make (snd-card-cs4236 ---> snd-cs4236) in
/etc/modules.conf.

In alsamixer you need to turn capture on. You do this by going to

I found the problem. Not only do I have to crank up the volume,
but I have to unmute all the channels (and there are lots) that I
care about. All is well now, and Mandrake Control Center *DID*
it's job to configure my card. Now if there was just some way to
turn on the speakers by default and s

The sound on my Gateway MT6821 laptop only works on boot when Alsamixer
shows two options
"Master and PCM" but sometimes it shows three options instead "Master

I am new to Linux ALSA because I am using my sweet tv card these

My tv card has a standard audio stream interface, so I use

I'm developing a USB MIDI device for my own hobby use and I've run into
a bit of an issue. I plan to release it as OSHW, but for now it is not
in a presentable state.
My device presents a USB Midistreaming interface with the following
characteristics:
- A single embedded MIDI IN jack with ID 1
- A
d to fix my cable number to be zero, since it's the 0th cable on that
Jack.
After fixing my MIDI message I tried this with aseqdump and finally saw
stuff!!! I then started rosegarden and saw my control changes coming in
on the channel I intended them to!!! I would say my issue is solv
although I have seen ALSA mentioned somewhere in
relation to it, there was no acknowledgement of the Audiofire when I ran
its device driver utility.

The ALSA sound-card matrix lists Midiman's Delta 1010 card as
supported, including IEC958 RCA in/out -- I think this is
_electrical_ S/PDIF (as opposed to optical). A few questions:
1. Is the Midiman Delta 1010 LT (note this is the LT version)
supported in ALSA? If yes, in which version(s
I don't have your card, so I'm stabbing in the dark a little,
but it looks to me like you need lines like
alias sound-slot-0 sb
in your /etc/modules.conf file. I use a vanilla soundblaster,
so I alias mine to "sb". You'll have to do something different
there.
