I have used "gamix" with my rme9652 to set the
clocking sources, it gives you a control panel for
clock, etc.  "Autosync" does what is says and will
often slave to clock changes from a DAT, etc.

You can also check the clock in /proc/asound/card#/id
where # is 0 for the first card, etc, and id is the id
of your card(mine is at "/proc/asound/card0/rme9652)".
