I do a lot of UniFi. Networks and cameras. I think you'll be fine with the
G5 Pro and the Cloudkey. I usually prefer to use G4 cameras when they're
outdoors, mostly due to the metal case, and my assumption that they'll be
less susceptible to nearby lightning than the plastic cases on the G5s. But

Is there a good source for an inexpensive, but reliable 900 MHz PtP,
solution these days? Looking for something for a client that needs a nLOS

I think if you download an old controller version from before the EOL, you
can probably manage it. Go to:

Scroll down past the "Firmware" section to the "Software" section. Below
that, click the button that says "See Past Software". Controller versions

You can either forget them and re-adopt on the cloud key or you can back up
the old controller and restore it to the cloud key (they should both be
running the same software version if you do that.) If you forget and
re-adopt you’ll have to reconfigure everything. If you backup and restore,

Is anyone aware of a device that will take a POTS line from the telco,
convert it to IP, and then somewhere on the network convert it back into a
normal analog POTs line to plug into an analog handset?
Basically, I have a customer who owns a gift shop. They have a restaurant
in a separate building
Sorry, can't tell you the name for it, but I experienced this very thing in
a major way when my partner and I sold our WISP back in 2014. We sold it to
the local telco, which had a less than stellar reputation at the time. We
announced the pending sale to our customer base probably a month or so

A while ago, I got to play with some TP-Link PtP gear that a customer had
bought. Hardware seemed very similar to UBNT Airmax stuff. And the software
was eerily similar to the older Airmax GUI. I wondered if there was some
sort of OEM agreement going, or if TP-Link is just playing copycat. I

Yep. Major AWS outage this morning--west coast from what I've been able to
see. I know UniFi portal was down, as was Calix Cloud. I have a few hotel
customers who lost their cloud based property management systems. Still
seems mostly down at the moment. Stuff is bouncing in UniFi portal.

So, I just want to verify an assumption I've made. I know the difference
between UPC and APC connectors. You can't use one with the other and have
it work out well. I get that. My question has to do with adapters (couplers
like an SC to SC adapter) that you would have on, say, a patch panel. Is

The telco I sold my WISP to used it as well. I always wondered why, but
never asked. I just assumed it was one of those "If it's free, it can't be
good" decisions made by a pointy-haired boss. I just checked into their
website. There's a chart there on the home page that shows how obviously
awesome
Guessing when you say the new Mikrotik variant, you're talking about the
nRay. I just picked up a pair of those for a link of about 250 ft. One
issue I had with them is that the mount is all stainless steel hardware,
and about 10 minutes after slightly tightening everything up, I found all
the nuts
So I've been out of the WISP business for a few years now, but I have a
project where I'm considering using some UBNT gear. I'm wondering if the
new GPS sync gear is decent. From what I've read, they've fixed the issues
that were present years ago in their first sync attempt.
Specifically, I'm con
Multiple NICs? Maybe get a USB ethernet dongle for the laptop. Also, if you
can access your internal networks via WiFi, that would fix that issue. Of
course, this all assumes that your various IP subnets don't conflict or
overlap in any way.

When I was a kid, I used to catch gopher snakes all the time, along with
garter snakes, king snakes, lizards, frogs, toads, etc. I would put them in
an ice cream bucket for transport home. I recall one day catching a gopher
snake and upon getting it home I started to remove the lid from the bucket.
Without seeing the head, I can't be sure, but my guess is Gopher Snake /
Bull Snake / Blow Snake. They're all the same. They like to act like
rattlers, but they're harmless.

Based on recent experience, I don't think the published infection rates are
