They're worried about the restaurant employees misplacing the phone, and always having to hunt for it. But maybe in the end that might be the best solution. I do worry about whether a cordless phone--even a good one--might go that far (probably 150 feet) and be able to punch through multiple walls, plus all the stainless steel kitchen equipment that sits between the gift shop building and where the phone would be located.
