Hi Yudi,
check your TSM server. There is no space left in the backuppool. You have
to add one or more volumes.
Archiving works because archive data is saved in the archivepool.

Hai Ullrich, thanks for the answer.
But as already i state, it happens only when the option "Backup or
restore NTFS security information" is choosed /marked.
If it's unmarked, everything works just fine.
The Backup and archive are using the same disk storage pool

Dear Yudi,
might not solve your problem but there are a few things which need to be
discussed:
1)
All backup copy groups have exactly the same (default?) retention settings.
Therefore I can not see any reason why you have setup different management
classes.
2)

Ralph, I think you are on to something.
The way TSM works, if there is more than one management class with the

Is this Exchange 2007 SCC or CCR clustering?
If you are using SCC (traditional, old-school MSCS clustering),
my recommendation is to make the NODENAME contain the name of the
virtual Exchange server.

Hi Del,
This is all new to me, so please excuse my ignorance to this topic, but I

Is there any function inside TSM doing this automaticly?

Hi Joni,
OK.. that helps explain your situation much better.
Many of the customers that are using Exchange 2007 CCR clustering
use DP/Exchange along with TSM for Copy Services to enable VSS backups.
Microsoft allows you to perform VSS backups from the Exchange CCR replica

Hello,
We are still fairly new to RMAN/TDPO backups, and trying to understand
behavior.
We have one 10tb database that performs RMAN backups to TSM using one
tape drive (one channel). Oracle datafiles are interleaved (not sure of
the level).
We are now performing a full restore on this database
hi, just 2 quick questions :
- what's your RESOURCEUTILIZATION parameter value ?
- what's your MAX_NUM_MP allowed parameter value ?

Hi Richard,
We backup our Oracle database via two channels so the data is split onto
two different tapes. Therefore we can use two channel restores.
Four channel restore doesn't make any sense as the other two extra
channels can't mount the tapes which are already in use by the first two

means you can backup each fs/fsp to different tape at the same time (i

RESOURCEUTIL is not specified, so it's at default.
MAX_NUM_MP on the node is 4.

Mr Sims and Mr Parker have it! When I was running "q inclexl" as the

TDPs are based upon the TSM API, where RESOURceutilization is not
available, in that it pertains to file-oriented operations, whereas
the API is engaged in streaming.

Hai Joni,
I had try the simple configuration for TDP Exchange backup with a cluster
environment.
In my case there're 2 cluster and 1 mailbox. I installed TSM Client & TDP

The point is, like set up a non cluster (don't set the clusternode in
dsm.opt to yes, set it to "NO").

I think i've got the point, maybe i missed something in retention

now I manage the retention by the volume usage (rotation).

Are you sure that you need to do this? Modern tapes are much more
reliable than their predecessors. I went looking for some specifications
and it states at http://nle.ch/dl/LTO.pdf that the archival life of LTO1,2
and 3 tapes is 15-30 years. If that is so, then there is no need to copy
