[Bug 351352] Re: 9.04 alarm clock locks up computer.
I can confirm this bug as well. Upon launching alarm-clock cpu usage spikes to 100%, time stops, the system monitors on the bottom pane stop scrolling. Once clicking in the actual window it doesn't let interact with anything on the screen via mouse. Able to switch to a virtual terminal, but if you try to switch back it will bring you to a blank screen in which the unit does not respond to the ctrl+alt+backspace command. Keyboard locks up completely, num lock light etc do not correspond when pressing the buttons. The only way out of this phase in the lockup is to cold boot the machine -- 9.04 alarm clock locks up computer. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/351352 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 572038] [NEW] Update Manager does not prompt to upgrade to 10.04
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: update-manager Update Manager does not prompt to upgrade with LTS releases only selected in software sources. On my brothers 9.10 machine I brought up update manager, installed all updates, rebooted as requested. Went back into update manager and hit check: no prompt to upgrade. Tried "update-manager -d" via F2 run app, still no option. Tried via terminal via aptitude and apt-get , it says no update available or just does not upgrade dep on which command was used. To get it to pop up, I had to go into software sources>updates>release upgrade>show new distribution releases and change the option to normal releases. It then came up and I was able to begin the upgrade. As we all are aware, 10.04 is an LTS release. It seems as if maybe the system does not realize that? Not sure if this carries into 10.04. [Bug 570328] [NEW] No image during boot/shutdown, small terminals appear
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: plymouth No image during boot or shutdown. This was fine in Beta 1 but a Beta 2 update broke it. I waited to see if it would get fixed but it still has not. 8 small terminals appear along the very top of the screen for a split second during both boot and shutdown, rest of the screen blank. Its extremely tiny so i cannot see wha'ts what. Also, the same spot the exact same size will appear all purple with the rest of the screen black, also for a second or two. Other than this occurring, the screen is either black or the monitor isn't being sent a signal, it bounces between the two during the process. So besides the 8 terminals and the purple strip, my boot/user experience is pretty much black screen until the login appears. Previously the load screen loaded during both boot and shutdown no issue. Affected machine is a dell 2350, on 10.04 RC, fully updated. My other 2 machines are not affected by this. [Bug 439448] Re: visual corruption affecting several panel applets
My bug #571267 was marked as a dupe of this. I just wanted to add that as stated on that page this only affected my 6 machines when compiz was enabled. Once none for desktop effects was chosen the issue ceased on each machine. I see others have noticed this as well. BTW, issue is not recreated when using metacity's comp manager. -- visual corruption affecting several panel applets https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/439448 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 508452] Re: wnck-applet crashed with SIGSEGV in g_closure_invoke()
Same as original report on Lucid Beta1. It started when I tried scrolling to another desktop via hovering over the workspace switcher and scrolling with the mouse. When it didn't work, I right clicked the panel item and hit preferences to see if the feature was disabled, and thats when everything crashed. But it may have crashed before because once reloaded I was able to scroll again. -- wnck-applet crashed with SIGSEGV in g_closure_invoke() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/508452 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 664016] Re: no such file or directory when compressing zip, rar, 7z
1. Is this reproducible? --Yes 2. If so, what specific steps should we take to recreate this bug? Be as detailed as possible. This will help us to find and resolve the problem. --Right clicked the folder>Hit compress>chose zip>permission denied>exited >ran gksu file-roller>tried same folder again with the same options> "An error occurred while adding files to the archive. No such file or directory." It occurs with any file type, and with encryption. I ran into this problem trying to create a password protected/encrypted archive Two specific things: * Do the folder or the files in the folder have something unusual in their file name (special characters, etc.)? --I was browsing through, I did not see any. This is a large amount of data, however. I went through about 95% of it, it's mostly media and docs separated in a bunch of folders * Is the folder you are trying to compress on a normal hard disk or on a network share or similar? --This is on an external hard drive, NTFS, 1TB The permissions denied issue was also weird, because I'm the owner of all the files. To be sure I navigated to the drive and ran sudo chown -R ubuntu Work/ however I still get "An error occurred while adding files to the archive. Same, alt+f, etc will bring the menus up (so to speak) and allow navigation of the menu but it looks a lil different for me, the menu bar itself does not pop up at all. [Bug 629552] Re: network manager doesnt connect to wireless network when ip or dns set manually
Just found that the bug also occurs when setting a manual DNS (such as google, or open DNS) Followed these steps: Inside the editing window that opens click on the ‘IPv4 Settings’ tab Under ‘IPv4 Settings’, change the ‘Method’ to ‘Automatic (DHCP) addresses only’ Put these name server addresses as your ‘DNS Servers’: 208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220 Once I hit apply, the wireless disconnected and did not reconnect. Every time I attempted to reconnect it prompted for a password, regardless of if I entered it or not, it created a new entry in NM, totally disregarding the edited entry. It will create multiple entries as long as you keep retrying. Restarting does not resolve. FYI- this is on a fresh install and fully updated 10.04 -- network manager doesnt connect to wireless network when ip or dns set manually https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/629552 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
