1. Is this reproducible? --Yes 2. If so, what specific steps should we take to recreate this bug? Be as detailed as possible. This will help us to find and resolve the problem. --Right clicked the folder>Hit compress>chose zip>permission denied>exited >ran gksu file-roller>tried same folder again with the same options> "An error occurred while adding files to the archive. No such file or directory."
It occurs with any file type, and with encryption. I ran into this problem trying to create a password protected/encrypted archive Two specific things: * Do the folder or the files in the folder have something unusual in their file name (special characters, etc.)? --I was browsing through, I did not see any. This is a large amount of data, however. I went through about 95% of it, it's mostly media and docs separated in a bunch of folders * Is the folder you are trying to compress on a normal hard disk or on a network share or similar? --This is on an external hard drive, NTFS, 1TB The permissions denied issue was also weird, because I'm the owner of all the files. To be sure I navigated to the drive and ran sudo chown -R ubuntu Work/ however I still get "An error occurred while adding files to the archive. Permission denied." ** Attachment added: "Screen" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/file-roller/+bug/664016/+attachment/1704710/+files/Screenshot-Untitled%20Window.png -- no such file or directory when compressing zip,rar,7z https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/664016 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
