Just to clear things up, you can open any of the programs in the applet from the applications menu (forgetting does not mean the functionality is not there), even rhythmbox regardless of if it minimizes to the tray (if you call on it from the apps menu it will come to focus).
But the real reason for this post is to quote Chris's very true and important message: "We don't need any more screenshots on here, or comments telling us how bad the bug is.
