[Bug 390527] [NEW] Cannot assign Ctrl-Alt-T to "Run a terminal"

2009-06-21 Thread Koterpillar
Public bug reported:

I want Ctrl-Alt-T to be a hotkey for "Run a terminal" in Gnome. Choosing "Key
combinations" from "Preferences", I can set it, but pressing it does nothing.
However, if I create a new command in that window, with "terminator" as run
string, it works. If I assign the "XF86Reload" key to "Run a terminal",
Terminator opens too (it is set as default terminal emulator in Preferred
Applications.
Some more investigating: Ctrl-T works fine. Ctrl-Alt-W, Ctrl-Alt-U, Ctrl-Alt-S
all work fine.

[Bug 390566] [NEW] When composing new message, autosuggestion corrupts addresses

2009-06-22 Thread Koterpillar
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

When writing an address in "To:" field, using suggestions results in
corrupted names/addresses.

To reproduce:
Let's say addr...@example.com is stored in the address book as John Doe.
1. Open Evolution, click "New" to start composing message.
2. Type first letters of the contact address (for example, "addr").
3. When the suggestion box appears, press Enter.

Expected results:
"To:" field contains "John Doe ".

Actual results:
"To:" field contains "J, ohn Doe ".

Also, this does not happen when:
- You press down arrow and then Enter when suggestion box appears.
- You clear the "To:" field and start again.

It works with the new user (guest user which I got from the user

running SCIM and adding those layouts in guest doesn't reproduce the
problem; neither does killing everything SCIM-related solve it under my
account. What might be the difference?

No, it does not, same behavior. By the way, is it right that I had to
_downgrade_ packages from my 185.18.14-0ubuntu1 to
185.18.14-0ubuntu1~xup~1~jaunty? I have installed these:

module source
ii nvidia-180-libvdpau

185.18.14-0ubuntu1~xup~1~jaunty Modaliases for the
NVIDIA binary X.Org drive

[Bug 252144] Re: alt tab lock gnome-terminal

2009-04-03 Thread Koterpillar
Seems that this is an issue of SCIM configuration:
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=2531066&group_id=108454&atid=650539
Indeed, killing all SCIM processes stops this behavior.
Changing GTK_IM_MODULE from 'xim' as it was for me to 'scim-bridge' with
im-switch -s scim-bridge
made the issue disappear.

[Bug 356068] [NEW] various control keys become stuck in searchandrescue

2009-04-06 Thread Koterpillar
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: searchandrescue

"Search and rescue" is unplayable due to various keys becoming stuck,
such as arrows, view change keys and so on.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Launch Search and rescue.
2. Begin a mission.
3. Press F3.

Expected result:
View switches to outside the helicopter and stays so.

Actual result:
View switches to outside the helicopter and starts quickly cycling between
helicopter and some building, turning the screen into a mess.
After closing the game, same F3 key gets sent to whatever application is
active, for example, Firefox will open the search bar.

Similar things happen with other keys. For example, F1 key starts
cycling between help screens and, upon closing game, opens a lot of help
windows in whatever application becomes active (for example, a lot of
gnome-help windows).

[Bug 403106] [NEW] "On every workspace" windows lost when dragging over the edge of the screen

2009-07-22 Thread Koterpillar
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: compiz

Windows which are set to appear on every workspace become inaccessible
after dragging them over the edge of a workspace. They exist and are
visible in the workspace switcher, but there is (almost) no way to see
or interact with them. This causes confusion.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open any window.
2. Right-click on the title, choose "On every workspace".
3. Drag the window over the right edge of the screen.
4. Switch to every workspace and observe the result.

Expected results:
The window is still visible and can be interacted with. When switching
workspaces, the window stays at the active one.

Actual results:
The window is not visible. When switching workspaces, the window doesn't appear
at any of them, but in the workspace switcher applet it is always seen on the
workspace to the right of the current one. The window can't be interacted with.

There is actually a workaround to bring the window back:
1. Press Ctrl-Alt-Tab several times to switch to the window.
2. Press Alt-Space and choose "move".
3. Use the keyboard to move the window back.

However, before I thought of the workaround, I had to close some apps
(Pidgin) to get the windows back.

[Bug 400533] [NEW] Keyboard layout reset to english when using multimedia keys

2009-07-16 Thread Koterpillar
Public bug reported:

I have two keyboard layouts - English and Russian, and a Defender
KM-5390 USB keyboard with extra keys like "Play/Pause", "Back",
"Forward", "Sleep", "Calculator", etc. When the Russian layout is
active, pressing any of the extra keys performs the appropriate action
(goes back, forward, changes volume, pauses current track, etc.) and
sets keyboard layout back to English. This makes typing in Russian and
controlling media playback very inconvenient.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Ensure there are at least two keyboard layouts.
2. Open a text editor.
3. Switch to the layout which is not English.
4. Press one of the multimedia keys (for example, "Pause").
5. Type a few words.

Expected result:
The words are typed in the layout selected before.

Actual result:
The words are typed in English.

[Bug 433410] [NEW] "File" menu makes no sense

2009-09-20 Thread Koterpillar
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-rdp

In Gnome-RDP window, there is already a "Session" menu, with typical
commands of "New" and "Delete". However, Gnome-RDP is not working with
files in any way, so "File" menu, put first, makes no sense. Moreover,
it contains only one menu item, "Quit", which can be, for example, moved
to "Session" menu.

[Bug 433804] [NEW] Keybindings get reset on logout

2009-09-20 Thread Koterpillar
Public bug reported:

Setting "Run a terminal" keybinding (to Ctrl-Alt-T) in "System -
Parameters - Keybindings" gets forgotten each time I log out and log
back in (it is set to "Off" there and doesn't work). The same happens on
a fresh user account. I've also tried setting "Initiate window switcher"
to Ctrl-Alt-E, it gets lost on next login as well.

[Bug 444745] [NEW] Applet freezes when trying to connect to a wireless network

2009-10-06 Thread Koterpillar
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager

On an Acer Aspire One, when I try to connect to a wireless network (from
the applet menu), nothing happens and the applet doesn't react to clicks
anymore. The network in question has WPA/WPA2 enabled, and I have
connected to it before. Also, running nm-tool produces the following
warning:

NetworkManager Tool

State: connected

** (process:2349): WARNING **: error: failed to read connections from
org.freedesktop.NetworkManagerUserSettings:
Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application
did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the
reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.

(the usual connection list follows, will attach if needed).

[Bug 445229] [NEW] Freeze when switching to an external monitor via hotkey

2009-10-07 Thread Koterpillar
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

After connecting the external monitor (Sony SDH-HS95P) to the Acer
Aspire One (AAO110) and using Fn+F5 (Switch displays) hotkey, X server
freezes. There is nothing shown on the laptop LCD, and only a mouse
cursor on external monitor (cannot be moved). I can't switch to a text
console, but can SSH to the machine.

[Bug 445243] [NEW] gnome-display-properties cannot set virtual resolution

2009-10-07 Thread Koterpillar
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

Trying to set up dual screen configuration (Acer Aspire One 110's screen
and Sony SDM-HS95P), I opened gnome-display-properties and set both
screens to their native resolutions (1024x600 and 1280x1024
respectively), clicked Apply. I was told that I need to enable virtual
resolution, I clicked Yes, authenticated for making a system-wide
change, told that I need to log out and log back in. However, nothing
changed on the next logon. I still get 800x600 on each screen and same
prompt when trying to set the resolution as I wanted.

[Bug 445251] [NEW] Enable displaying input language instead of keyboard layout in gnome-keyboard-applet

2009-10-07 Thread Koterpillar
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-applets

Currently, gnome-keyboard-applet indicates the selected keyboard layout, not
language that layout belongs to. For example, when entering English using USA
keyboard layout is shows "USA".
1. This might be confusing for people using USA layout for entering English in
another countries.
2. When switching between two input languages, more important information is
not layout, but the language itself.
3. This is not consistent with what Windows shows.
So, there should be an option for making gnome-keyboard-applet display not the
layout name, but the language name (abbreviated if needed).

[Bug 445384] [NEW] The capiton of MySQL Text Console gives out password in plain text

2009-10-07 Thread Koterpillar
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:
1. Login to a server using password.
2. Select Tools - MySQL Text Console.
3. Maximize the console window.
4. Observe the caption of the console window.

Expected results:
The password is not displayed anywhere in clear text.

Actual results:
The console window caption has the whole "mysql" command line, for example,
mysql -ufoo -hbar -pbaz
which can be seen in clear text on the screen.

[Bug 445722] [NEW] Output file name with non-latin characters isn't displayed correctly

2009-10-07 Thread Koterpillar
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pitivi

When rendering a movie, if an output file name chosen in Save dialog
contains non-latin characters, it gets mangled.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open PiTiVi, add some clips to timeline.
2. Choose Render project.
3. Click on "Choose file", enter some non-latin filename, for example, "测试".

Expected results:
The Render dialog shows filename exactly as entered, 测试.

Actual results:
The file name in the Render dialog is HTML-encoded (?), like %E6%B5%8B%E8%AF%95.
The actual file is still being named right.

[Bug 445726] [NEW] Should add an extension to rendered file names or guess format from entered extension

2009-10-07 Thread Koterpillar
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pitivi

When rendering output, there are separate selections for file name and
file format. Therefore, it is easy to create a file in some format
without any extension, which might lead to confusion later when opening
that file. Pitivi should append an extension to the file name based on
chosen format and/or guess the format from file extension entered, like,
for example, Gimp does.

[Bug 447780] [NEW] "Send problem report to developers" window doesn't respond to Tab

2009-10-09 Thread Koterpillar
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: apport

It is impossible to use keyboard to navigate "Send problem report to
developers" window. When it appears, the focus is on "Content of the
report", and Space triggers the window with that information. However,
there is no way to use keyboard to move to "Cancel" button - neither
down arrow nor Tab work.

Workaround: Enter chooses "Send report", Escape chooses "Cancel". Still,
unavailability of Tab makes the window un-intuitive.
