Re: Copying cassettes to computer
Hello, Frank. If you have Cdex or another sound editor you are comfortable with, then there is a good start. Also you must set up your volume control and select Line-in from the Windows Volume Control and then close that and do a test recording. If your sample has recorded onto your hard drive, you will hear it. If it did not, then the Line-In is not yet on. Anyway, I use Cdex and for cassettes and other formats I encode from I use the Record >From Analog Input feature in Cdex 1.5. Oh, yeah, don't forget your cables connected in the right place and one goes into the line-in on the sound card--and I usually monitor through headphones so have my headphones connectd to my sound card so I can regulate the volume. I cannot do it so well through the speakers, because then it ends up being too loud or too soft. I havve two receivers connected together. One has a double cassette deck and the other one has more inputs on it so I can switch between four different sources. I thought I would need a mixer as well, but so far, have not necessitated a purchase of one. Hope this makes sense and hope it helps you. Re: Copying cassettes to computer
Actually I copied a couple of exercise cassettes to my compputer very successfully using sound forge. All I did was plug a patch chord into the line out of the cassette recorder and into the line in on the computer and record away. It was really very simple. Mary Ellen Earls Remember! Re: Windows XP question
WRONG AGAIN! Mimi, this information is DEAD WRONG. Listen carefully please. Window Eyes Standard will NOT, I repeat, will NOT work with any version of XP. You must upgrade to WE Professional in order to enable you to work with any version of XP. The cost, as I previously stated, is $250 to upgrade to that version. All you have to do is call GW Micro at their phone number which is at the bottom of their web site, and they will verify what I've stated. how to get enhanced CD to play correctly
I received a CD and at first my daughter thought it was a DVD because of the way it started and the pictures, etc., on the screen. But it's probably an enhanced CD--sort of acting like a DVD and audio CD by the images she was describing. Well it opens in internet explorer and says it has 8 links; it also starts at midpoint and plays a little of that track repeatedly till I close out of it. Operating Windows XP home and Jaws 5.10. There doesn't seem to be a play or track link to get it to start at the beginning, and besides I don't want internet explorer to open the disc. My other audio CD's open in Media Player but this one does not. I can open Winamp and arrow down to play but I'd like to be able to have it open in one player or the other without it going to I.E. It also never gave that option of "open with" and a list view. Any ideas? Music Services Questions
Hi All, I have two questions. 1. Does anyone use MusicMatch Jukebox? If so, how accessable is it? How do the different programs very, i.e. what would I get with MusicMatch, Music Match on Demand? I think I do want the MusicMatch Radio stations, but I'm not sure I need the MusicMatch music store. 2. Has anyone had experience with a program called LimeWire? I have it and I can't get it to do anything. I'm having what is beginning to look like a very negative experience. I decided to try the mymusicinc. link. It looks like it could be very nice, so I signed up. In order to download their music you are instructed to download LimeWire, which I did. However, it appears not to be at all accessable. I had 30 days to try the program with a supposedly money back guarantee. I have sent 3 e-mails to the company telling them that their product is not accessable and asking what I need to do to obtain a refund. To date, I have not had the curtesy of a reply. My 30 days is nearly ujp. I'll keep you all posted, because I believe this is going to be a website we need to stay away from. Any information regarding these two products will be appreciated. Hi Amrit, In a nutshell, an fm radio is an fm reciever, which recieves fm signals. And as the name implies, an fm transmitter, transmits fm signals. Hello, This is my third e-mail to you regarding this subject, and I have not received a reply addressing my concerns. I'm blind and use both a braille display and a screen reader with the computer. I signed up for the two-year subscription about a month ago. After signing up I was instructed to download LimeWire, which I did. However, I find it completely unaccessable with speech and/or braille. I simply cannot use it and I have tried everyway possible to make it work, but it doesn't. I wrote you with three questions, which are: 1. Is it absolutely necessary to use LimeWire to have access to your content? 2. Have you had any previous experience with blind customers who experienced problems, and were you able to resolve them? 3. If I cannot use it, I had asked how I might obtain a refund since I used the 900 number to sign up, but I was never given instructions on what to do about this. My 30 days is now over and I am stuck with a product that I can't use. I would appreciate any information you can provide. RE: Audigy 2 Value and Audigy 2 ZS difference.
You can get a good feel for it if you go to soundblaster.com and click "specifications" for each of those. Offhand, I remember that the value will only playback at 96KHZ as opposed to 192KHZ for the ZS, and the ZS has a firewire port whereas I don't think the value does. At any rate, that part of soundblaster.com is accessible enough, so the specs themselves should answer all your questions. Hi, Ray, try going to http://www.rollye.net though she freely admits she's a mac user, so windows streaming may not be a priority on that site, as I've heard that she uses quick time player, but go to that site to see what streaming is offered. Flash player
Hi list, Does anyone know where I can get the Flash player or how to figure out if I actually have it? I know that sounds like a stupid question, but I found an entry for Shockwave in my add-remove list under control panel and wondered whether this is it. I don't see the actual program so am not sure. My reason for asking about this is that I am trying to use the XM radio three-day free trial of their online service. A call to tech support assured that I am logged in and registered okay and that I have the minimum system requirements, so there is no obvious reason why their player shouldn't work for me. The strange thing is that they offer looped samples of their content which are not actually live streams but which presumably use the same player and I've had no trouble with these. However, I know they have a Flash player as does Sirrius and I had no luck with their content either. So my question is whether or not Flash is bundled with Windows Media Player 9 which I already have or whether I have to get it from Macromedia or wherever else, and if so where and how to install.Any thoughts on accessing this or other streams with similar products like the Surfer network player much appreciated, as I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or it is just not possible. MSAA question, hope someone can help PLEASE!!!
A while back, I reformatted my computer and added XP Pro with a friends help. He installed a program called Maximize, which I told him I didn't, trying to help. It is a program that maximizes the internet explorer webpage you currently have open. We took it off and ever since then, the MSAA hasn't worked right. Webpages and things won't load automatically. I at that time hadn't installed SP2. To try to fix this problem, I spent an hour on the phone with GW Micro, installed Windows SP2, Window-eyes SP4, uninstalled and re-installed both several times, and finally ran the Microsoft sfc/scannow utility to try to repair Internet Explorer. My next step as a last resort will be to re-install my OS which I don't want to do. If anyone of you can help, I would be more grateful than you can imagine. I got help with the Yahoo sports volume problem with SP4, so I'm thinking someone may be able to help me with this one. Thanks so much in advance.
I was not in the office at the time of Jonathan's interview with Steve Timmer. Hi, Roger, Steve was away from his phone, so as far as I know, there was no interview, they just yacked about the two candidates, and played politically slanted music.
