Anyone,
When you record cassets with Total Recorder, which setting is best to get 
the best possible sound???

i use total recorder with no probs for doing exactly this. i've also used
goldwave. soundforge is also good, but it's pricey for basic recording.

Get GoldWave or Sound Forge.  Expect some learning curve and lots of 
help.
There are dedicated lists where you can ask all the questions you want
about
each and people are both very knowlegeable and very willing to help.
