Re: deleting reminders from the I phone 4S

2012-05-05 Thread Jenny Keller
Thank you Eric, but when I listen to a pod cast with only one need, like the
ones I've asked about, it confuses me more and by the time the pod cast gets to
what I need to know, my mind is so cluttered with stuff that I didn't want or
need to know, that I won't remember what it is that I wanted to know in the
first place.

I've never been good at learning that way.

Can someone just answer the questions in baby steps without sending me to a pod
cast?

No disrespect, that's just not the best way for me to learn things.

You'd never really wish anything to install automatically. That's exactly how

Re: adobi flash player installer pop up, how do I do this?

2012-05-05 Thread Eugenia Firth
Hi Guys.
I do have a question, however. I think was talked about earlier, but I think I
was too dumb to understand the answer. At least one site I go to uses flash, my
church site that I sometimes access to watch services when I can't go myself.
Although I can't control the volume and pause, etc., it does seem to work well
enough for me to hear the service. So, if I uninstall Flash as just
recommended, how can I then watch the service?

I have just ignored it when the site wants to update the thing. I asked Apple
about this when I was in the store last time, and he said that if I wanted to
update it, I should just go to the Adobe site and update it there so I wouldn't
risk any viruses. What about that.

Gigi

Re: adobi flash player installer pop up, how do I do this?

2012-05-05 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

If your Church uses Flash, then it wouldn't work if you uninstalled it. For
updating, you could either go to the Adobe site or, in your System Preferences,
go to the Flash panel and update it from there. Just remember that the update
process isn't very accessible anyway. I just use the tab key and spacebar to
do the update that is, the tab key and spacebar without the VO keys.

Trying to reinstall operating system, not sure if I did it right

2012-05-05 Thread Jenny Keller
I was having problems with my operating system, Lion, popping up with a log in
field and no voice over even though it was set up to come on with the log in
field, but it was also set to just log in without being loged in.

Someone told me to reinstall Lion, using command R and holding it down until
the computer booted up.

Well, I did that, but I'm not sure I did it right.

I told it to install Lion new, and it asked me to restart the machine so I did.

what was the point of that, it seemed too easy.

Did I do something wrong?

Why can't someone just answer my Ical question without confusing me with a pod cast?

2012-05-05 Thread Jenny Keller
I need to know what those lists like friends and family, and stuff are for.

I don't understand all that stuff, though I did learn how to delete a reminder.

I have a list of reminders and all of them are coming up though I thought I had
other reminders. I don't see any old ones though.

Anyway, Pod Casts give me too much information at one time and a lot of it I
already know, or don't understand in the first place cause it's too advanced
for me, or doesn't tell me what I need till my mind is so overloaded that I
can't absorb any more information.

Anyway, could someone just tell me in baby steps what all that is for and if
you have my number, just call if you want to.

defining single key for vo keys?

2012-05-05 Thread Alex Hall
Hi all,
I have an odd question. Is it possible to define a single key to act
as the VO keys? So, instead of holding down alt and control (whatever
the mac calls them) you hold down only one? Please don't start saying
that "you just want windows-like control". It's simply that hitting a
single key, be it insert or not, with other keys to input commands is
more streamlined and easier to do, IMHO. So, if it's possible to map
VO comman keys to be something different, could anyone tell me how?
Thanks.

Re: Solving a capcha problem

2012-05-05 Thread Venkatesh Potluri
Hi
yes, you can. in most of the popular sites, you find an option to try
an audio capture. you will listen a few numbers or, in some cases,
words along with a lot of background speech. you should be able to
type only the numbers that you hear.
I would suggest you use headphones while doing this for better results.
I would like to add to the question.
I often don't succeed in entering the words or numbers successfully.
well, am I not so good at it just yet, or are there any tips that
would make this process easier?
Thank you.

opening or closing a series of apps at once?

2012-05-05 Thread Mark BurningHawk Baxter
I'm running Snow Leopard, and I want to use a keyboard shortcut to open or
close three or four apps at once.

Example: I'm going to write now and don't want to be disturbed by the
Internet; I want to close Mail, Syrinx, and whatever messenger clients I have
up, but I want to use ONE keystroke to do it, or to open them.

Is there a way to use VO or a script to do this?

Curiously

How do I save a voice memo sent from my wife's iPhone?

2012-05-05 Thread Kevin Gibbs
guys,
My wife recorded the sound of some frogs outside our home a few days
ago as a voice memo on her iPhone. I asked her to e-mail it to me.
the e-mail arrived and I can hear the memo. However, I'd like to save
the attachment and delete the e-mail. How do I import this into my
voice memos on my iPhone from Mac Mail?

thanks,
Kevin

Re: Why can't someone just answer my Ical question without confusing me with a pod cast?

2012-05-05 Thread Scott Howell
Have you tried reading the help files? THey contain a lot of information and
there is also Google. You really expect someone to produce a step-by-step
tutorial on iCal just for you? No offense, but it seems to me that you have not
researched the questions very thoroughly on your own and just want to be
spoon-fed the information. Asking for help is fine and encouraged, but it seems
that you would ask only when you have already tried finding the answers
elsewhere. There are plenty of resources and the podcast someone suggested is a
great way to learn how to use an app.
Of course then you seem to get cross with folks because they won't just give
you what you want when you want it and I hope you understand you are being
unfair to those who are providing you the resources.

Re: How do I save a voice memo sent from my wife's iPhone?

Would you not want to just add it to iTune? Is there any particular reason you
would want to save it in the voice memo app? Btw, I am not aware of a way to do
this. Your best bet is to add it to iTunes and make a handy playlist called
something like "Sounds of Frogs" or "My Bride's Audible Treasures', or
something along those lines. :)

I was having problems with my operating system, Lion, popping up with a log
in field and no voice over even though it was set up to come on with the log
in field, but it was also set to just log in without being loged in.

Someone told me to reinstall Lion, using command R and holding it down until
the computer booted up.

Well, I did that, but I'm not sure I did it right.

I told it to install Lion new, and it asked me to restart the machine so I
did.

what was the point of that, it seemed too easy.

Did I do something wrong?

There are many sites which now have an audio capcha, but there are plenty which
do not have this. On some, you cannot even contact anyone via an email contact

simple arithmetic problem or some other query which has an obvious litery or

Surely it could not have taken you five hours to install Lion. That is
impossible. Maybe to install Lion, set everything up, and install all of your

Firefox, Was Re: Solving a capcha problem

2012-05-05 Thread Teresa Cochran
It's now possible to solve these in Firefox. However, the nightly builds are
not stable, and if you think the "busy" messages are annoying in Safari, they
are much more frequent in Firefox. I have succeeded in getting the WebVisum
extension, but at the moment, it may be more trouble than it's worth, depending
on your willingness to tough it out. I'm going to try this the next time I have
to solve one, though.

My other option is to use Firefox in Linux with Fusion, which works quite
nicely.

Here's the URL with the Firefox nightly builds: http://nightly.mozilla.org/

Re: opening or closing a series of apps at once?

2012-05-05 Thread Jonathan C. Cohn
Applescript is certainly your friend here, though you could do it with the
shell and the "open" command.

In AppleScript
tell application "Mail" to activate
tell application "iChat" to quit

Note that there are quotes around the application name.

Hmm, do you want the same script to act like a toggle? That would be just a

I could work with you on that off list.

Re: opening or closing a series of apps at once?

2012-05-05 Thread Mark BurningHawk Baxter
I'm unfamiliar with the steps involved in writing and running a script.
However, if I could link this script to a Keyboard Commander shortcut, that
would be perfect.

I'm assuming I write a file with such commands as
tell application "mail" to open

and then place that file somewhere, or change its permissions such that it
executes instead of opens to an editor? I'm intrigued; thanks.

RE: Trying to reinstall operating system, not sure if I did it right

2012-05-05 Thread Daniel Miller
Hi,

I highly doubt you needed to reinstall for that. That's a known issue in
Lion, where Voiceover will not speak at the login field, even though it's
set to. In fact, there are bugs with VO starting on startup in lion in
general.
I've reported them to Apple for investigation, so perhaps they'll be
addressed in Mountain Lion.

free m4a to mp3?

2012-05-05 Thread Stacey Robinson
Hi,
Is there a program or utility out there that is accessible that will allow me
to highlight a file then go into the context menu to convert it to mp3.
Example, If I have something in dropbox that needs to be converted, I don't
want to go into itunes.
I'd like to be able to highlight it and convert.
If there's something out there, where do I get it and how do I install it?
Thanks,
When I was using windows, I used a program called switch.

LOL! That is an understatement: VO start-up under lion being buggy. A few

I guess the poit is that I agree with Daniel; reinstalling lion to fix that 1

That is interesting Daniel because I have no such issues with Lion at all. I

Re: Why can't someone just answer my Ical question without confusing me with a pod cast?

2012-05-05 Thread Jenny Keller
If I knew where to look for that information I wouldn't inconvenience anyone
with my question.

As far as wanting to be spoon fed, I can't help if I've tried to learn things
by pod casts and it completely overwhelms me and I end up more frustrated and
confused than I started out.

If that's the way people feel on this list, then tell me then, what is this
list for then if we can't ask simple questions and get simple answers.

If I'm going to be treated in this manner, I'll just not ask anything and
consider unsubscribing to this list altogether if it is too inconvenient for me
to ask questions without just being handed a pod cast.

That, in my opinion, is taking the lazy way out anyway, cause it prevents you
from having to lower yourself to answer such a simple and insignificant
question.

Again, what is this list for if you can't get simple and understandable answers
to simple questions.

If I wanted a pod cast, I would've looked one up.

Excuse me for bothering those of you that are just too good to answer my simple
question.

Again, I'll just not say anything and again, if I can't get answers to simple
questions, but others do't get treated that way, then this list will certainly
leave my inbox.

Re: opening or closing a series of apps at once?

You could compile so it can run as an app, but remember you must ensure you not
only spell the app correctly, but ensure you capitalize the name as shown in
the Finder, (e.g. Mail has a cap m).

Re: Trying to reinstall operating system, not sure if I did it right

2012-05-05 Thread Jenny Keller
It was almost like it just booted up normally.

I didn't know how to do it, so I probably did it wrong. But o yes, there must
be a pod cast for that too since my questions are too inconvenient for the
listers to answer and I need to be spoon fed and am too lazy aparently to look
it up.

Re: Why can't someone just answer my Ical question without confusing me with a pod cast?

2012-05-05 Thread Scott Howell
FIrst let me tell you lady I am anything but lazy and I think a lot of people
have made a considerable amount of effort to help you on this list. You know
Jenny with that damned attitude you cannot possibly expect help. FOr the love
of God can't you at least indicate that you tried to find the bloddy answer
first THe way you ask all of your questions indicates to me that you have
not even attempted to look at the help files etc. You do know how to use the
search facilities on GOogle do you not? Do you know how to use the help
facilities in the application? You know some of your questions are so confusing
that it is not even clear what you are talking about at times. I should know
better than to even waste time encouraging you to do the research because this
is exactly the type of response I should expect. You most definitely come
across as though you want to be fed the information just in the way you post
your messages. No one minds helping you, but at least demonstrate you have
tried. As far as the podcast is concerned I am truly unclear as to how you
become more confused. You talk about how it is not the way you learn, so then
explain how you do learn. You cannot expect folks on the list to know your
learning style and sit down to write mini tutorials with "step 1 open the
application" etc. If that is what you want then say so, otherwise how does
anyone know how to feed you information.
So I guess I'll just be to lazy to lower myself to help you in the future and
your crappy attitude certainly took care of that.

Good luck, you're going to need it.

Re: Trying to reinstall operating system, not sure if I did it right

2012-05-05 Thread Jenny Keller
Is it a bug in Lion that sometimes, it will go to the log in screen and
sometimes, it will just go to the desktop?

that was the major problem.

It was getting a little rediculous that I was having to boot my system twice to
get it to boot up in the desk top like it's supposed to.

all the settings are correct.

I would like to use fetchmail so it can fetch mail to be available when I
use alpine. For reasons not important here, I first save all the messages
and then read them. The current imap connection takes a long time to
import the entire message locally.

Thanks.

Re: Why can't someone just answer my Ical question without confusing me with a pod cast?

2012-05-05 Thread Ray Foret Jr
I do believe that this is getting a little bit out of hand here. Jenny, My
best advice to you is this. The best way to learn to use any app is to just
jump in and make use of it and be willing to make a mistake a time or two. How
else you gonna learn anything about it? My best advice for seaking help is
that you consult the built in help for the apps you want help with when mere
use and exploration seem not to get it done for you. Honestly, it's not that
we mind helping you, but, to be spoon fed the information all the time is,
quite frankly, not the best way to learn; indeed, it is most likely the worst.
I would suggest that you take a step back from this and keep in mind the points
that Scot raises here. He does have some good points to make, and, I think
that if you just step back from the emotion of the moment and give things a
try, you will shock yourself at what you will learn and how quickly.

Re: Why can't someone just answer my Ical question without confusing me with a pod cast?

2012-05-05 Thread Teresa Cochran
I have worked in the Assistive Training field, and there is evidence that
people have different ways of learning. I had some clients who needed their
fingers placed on the keys in order to get the hang of a concept, and others
who just asked me to leave them alone for half an hour while they practiced.

My guess is, Jenny, that you may need individual training. Depending on the
warranty that came with your Mac, you may be able to get individualized
training at an Apple Store or from an Access Tech Trainer. I think you might
benefit from this a lot.

The problem with a list like this is that it mostly lends itself to quick
answers for quick questions. If questions are stated clearly and coherently,
with a specific task in mind, it's easier to help the questioner. If the
question is too vague or there are too many in one post, it's difficult for
both the questioner and the person responding to make sense of everything.

When I send a question to the list, I ask myself: "what specifically do I want
to accomplish." If I'm so confused that I'm not sure what to do first, or if
I'm very frustrated, taking a break from the situation without posting helps me
gain perspective on my problem.

Teresa

Re: How do I save a voice memo sent from my wife's iPhone?

2012-05-05 Thread Louie P. (Pete) Nalda
Hi,
if you control click on the voice memo file in the email, is there an option to
save as? If so, you could save it somewhere, then use ITunes' "Add To Library"
function to navigate to where you saved the file, then hit ok. It should then
be in your iTunes Library. You might even be able to put it in the Voice Memos
playlist.

Re: Why can't someone just answer my Ical question without confusing me with a pod cast?

2012-05-05 Thread Jenny Keller
Fine, since everyone else can ask questions and not be abused and berated on
this list. I'll be happy to unsubscribe.

As far as using some kind of help and trying the aps out, that's what I've
tried to do and that's when I get stuck.

If I knew of any help thing to look up things on I would.

Since I'm too stupid to be on this list I'm out of here.

Hi all,
I'm not seeing the family and friends stuff that she's seeing. I wonder if this
is a new feature in Lion. I do have delegates on the left hand side, as well
as work or home calendars. I don't have any family or friend options. I'm
guessing this is a new feature of iCal in 10.7. I'm still running 10.6.8 here.
It could explain why more people aren't seeing this, and thus, don't know the
answer.

Re: MenuTab

2012-05-05 Thread Lewis Alexander
activity monitor is like process viewer in windows when pressing ctrl - alt -
del. depending on how windows was configured to behave.

if you know the app in question, it's also identified as an activity. first
off, interact with the main window list, arrow down to the app in question,
stop interacting, then interact with the tool bar and VO space on quit process.

Re: MenuTab

2012-05-05 Thread Rahul Bajaj
Hi,

I tried doing that, but the issue is that MenuTab is not in the list of apps in
that table.
On most occasions, when I open MenuTab after starting my Mac, VO says that no
windows thing.
And, like I said, I can't even force quit it because it is not in the list of
apps in Activity Monitor.

Re: MenuTab

2012-05-05 Thread Lewis Alexander

could you go into system preferences, then go into accounts, your username and
then find the tab saying "Login items"

you should then see the app in question. you can disable it you highlight the
app and then voiceover to "remove" or delete. an icon outside of the window
with the apps in question.

this removes the login function for the app.

further to this, it's a question of finding the associated components of
menutab and deleting it.

let me know how this goes.

Re: defining single key for vo keys?

2012-05-05 Thread Scott Howell
Alex, I'm not sure how much navigation you are looking to accomplish with a
single key, but quick nav does provide a considerable amount of flexibility.
COnsider that you can use the VO rotor via left and up arrow or right arrow and
up arrow to change options such as by word, character, etc. You use the up/down
arrows to move by the option selected in the rotor. I use this instead of the
commanders. THe great thing is that VO provides several ways to accomplish the
same thing.

 Hi all,
I have an odd question.
 Thanks.

Re: Installing I downloaded ring tone

2012-05-05 Thread Lewis Alexander
if you have the ringtones stored by email, first download the attached files.
these either go to "downloads" or "Documents"

from there, you copy the selected tracks into the following directory:

/users/USERNAME/music/itunes/itunes media/ringtones.

if the "ringtones" directory does not exist, create it. then paste the files in.

from this point, launch itunes and then import the ringtones from that folder
to your library. this then updates and your ringtones are visable ready to
transfer to your iphone.

Re: How do I save a voice memo sent from my wife's iPhone?

2012-05-05 Thread Scott Howell
Actually that would likely work. You can save the attachment by going to the
menu, VO-m or control-f2 and choose file. You will find the option for saving
the attachment there. YOu can also find this in the header area of the message.
Once you save the file to the drive you can import it into iTUnes.

Re: Moderator, Please deal with this

2012-05-05 Thread Eric Oyen
oh boy.

it is my considered opinion that there is no such thing as a stupid question.
and yes, some of us have differing methods to learn the same things and these
methods can be difficult to understand because they are unique to the
individual. take me, for instance... I am totally blind AND a dyslexic. so, my
brain processes the printed (broiled) word differently from those who are not
dyslexic. simply because of this one difference, the way I ask questions and
search for information may be slightly different.

believe me when I say it, google is not all that friendly when it comes to
searches. if you add one too many words or use the wrong word, your searches
will yield unexpected results. sometimes an operator word (such as and, or, if)
can balloon the results to such an extent that the search is meaningless. come
to think of it, I may want to sit down and develop a podcast to teach how to do
proper searches using google. anyway, simply dismissing someone and saying they
are being spoon fed is rude. if you have a problem with people who need this
method for whatever reason, then don't bloody respond. now, I had to go through
this for a long time with a friend of mine. it took me a very long time to
learn (and then get comfortable with) and use google effectively. there are
still times where the amount of extraneous information is so high that
searching becomes an exercise in frustration. so, if anyone on here asks a
question, try to help them, not berate them.

Re: Ical question

2012-05-05 Thread Teresa Cochran
I mostly use the home calendar, since I'm at home most of the time. There are
other items in the calendar list, such as Facebook, ICloud, Gmail, and Meetup.
I think these were added when I added activities from these categories to ICal.
I'm using Lion, and I still haven't come across Friends and Family.

Re: free m4a to mp3?

2012-05-05 Thread Lisette wesseling
Hi Stacy
I have recently purchased a very accessible mp3 converter called "mp3
converter" from the app store. It was about $5 NZ so not expensive. You have to
go into the app, add the files you want to convert and it does it. Very easy to
use and not expensive. It takes all sorts of formats and converts them to MP3.
You can't just point at a file and do the convert from there - you have to go
into the app itself to do it but it does a nice job with lots of sample rate
choices. And you can do multiple files at once.

Has anyone figured out how to manage bookmarks in Safari? Once I show all

Thanks for any tips.

Re: opening or closing a series of apps at once?

2012-05-05 Thread Jonathan C. Cohn
OK, to have state in a script you need to define a "property"

So the first line would look like:
property myRunning : false
Then you could have the script text itself say

if myRunning then
- Things are running
set myRunning to false
tell application "bang" to quit
else
set myRunning to true
tell application "Bar" to activate
end if

I once started investigating using this logic to capture two VoiceOver cursor
positions and select the text between them, but I could not figure out the
voiceover cursor object enough.

Best regards,

Jonathan

Re: defining single key for vo keys?

2012-05-05 Thread Jonathan C. Cohn
90% of what I need to do can be done with the numpad commander. I did add two
additional keystrokes to the default Lion commander.

1. On the "3" key I added the jump command that gets executed with VO-J
2. With the Enter key I have it set to toggle betweenWeb dom and group mode.

The defaults are
1. Item chooser
2. down
3. Jump
4. Left
5. Default action (same as vo-space)
6. Right
7. Interact with item
8 up

9 . Stop Interacting

The 3 keys on the top row above 789 are
Doc, Menu , and window chooser

The plus key brings up the contextual menu.

I also use the insert + numpad keys for getting to next/previous
heading, link, visited link, table, control and hot spot.

If there is a specific function you need help with, I can probably tell you
where it is.

Best wishes,

Jonathan

 Hi all,
I have an odd question.
 Thanks.

Re: Using fetchmail in mac osx

2012-05-05 Thread Jonathan C. Cohn
I am sorry was there a question here? The closedest I see to a question is the
statement that fetchmail is taking a long time. I would expect that 99.5% of
this list have never used fetchmail. If you are fetching all your mail
everytime, that is certainly not efficient, and probably means you have a bit
to delete each time too. Can Fetchmail tag or move a message that it has
fetched so it does not retrieve it next time?

Best wwishes,

Jonathan

I'm not sure exactly who the moderator of this list is, but I would
appreciate it if this situation could be handled promptly.

I shouldn't have to be treated like this on this list.

I am sending a copy of a message I received from someone on this list and I
would appreciate it if you would take care of this, one way or another.

FIrst let me tell you lady I am anything but lazy and I think a lot of
people have made a considerable amount of effort to help you on this list.
You know Jenny with that damned attitude you cannot possibly expect help.
FOr the love of God can't you at least indicate that you tried to find the
bloddy answer first THe way you ask all of your questions indicates to
me that you have not even attempted to look at the help files etc. You do
know how to use the search facilities on GOogle do you not? Do you know how
to use the help facilities in the application? You know some of your
questions are so confusing that it is not even clear what you are talking
about at times. I should know better than to even waste time encouraging you
to do the research because this is exactly the type of response I should
expect. You most definitely come across as though you want to be fed the
information just in the way you post your messages. No one minds helping
you, but at least demonstrate you have tried. As far as the podcast is
concerned I am truly unclear as to how you become more confused. You talk
about how it is not the way you learn, so then explain how you do learn. You
cannot expect folks on the list to know your learning style and sit down to
write mini tutorials with "step 1 open the application" etc. If that is what
you want then say so, otherwise how does anyone know how to feed you
information.
So I guess I'll just be to lazy to lower myself to help you in the future
and your crappy attitude certainly took care of that.

Good luck, you're going to need it.

As far as wanting to be spoon fed, I can't help if I've tried to learn
things by pod casts and it completely overwhelms me and I end up more
frustrated and confused than I started out.

If that's the way people feel on this list, then tell me then, what is this
list for then if we can't ask simple questions and get simple answers.

If I'm going to be treated in this manner, I'll just not ask anything and
consider unsubscribing to this list altogether if it is too inconvenient for
me to ask questions without just being handed a pod cast.

That, in my opinion, is taking the lazy way out anyway, cause it prevents
you from having to lower yourself to answer such a simple and insignificant
question.

Again, what is this list for if you can't get simple and understandable
answers to simple questions.

If I wanted a pod cast, I would've looked one up.

Excuse me for bothering those of you that are just too good to answer my
simple question.

Again, I'll just not say anything and again, if I can't get answers to
simple questions, but others do't get treated that way, then this list will
certainly leave my inbox.

be spoon-fed the information. Asking for help is fine and encouraged, but it
seems that you would ask only when you have already tried finding the

Of course then you seem to get cross with folks because they won't just give

This was very useful information but I have a question about it. We were on a

Hello Steve,

Safari Reader is a normal part of Safari. You press Cmd-Shift-r, wait a second
or two, and VoiceOver starts reading the article. The beauty of it is that it
brings together all the pages without you having to click on "Next page".

Cheers,

Anne

Mudding on the mac.

2012-05-05 Thread Allison Mervis
Hi everyone!
I enjoy playing various muds, and was wondering what my options were in terms
of accessible mud clients. I know that muds could theoretically be played in
the terminal, and was wondering whether or not anyone has tried this. As I'm
sure many of you know, mudding successfully requires a lot of information to
be read to you automatically so that you can quickly keep track of room
descriptions, your status during a battle, etc. Do either the terminal or any
other stand alone mud clients read incoming information automatically? Thanks
so much.

Re: Mudding on the mac.

2012-05-05 Thread Greg Aikens
Hi Allison,
I have been reasonably successful using tintin in terminal. I had to play with
the VO cursor settings some but here is the configuration I like and have saved
as an activity.:
Keyboard follows VO cursor: Yes
VO follows keyboard cursor: No
Insertion point follows VO cursor: Yes
VO follows insertion point: no

Basically, I can't find a way to keep VO from interrupting itself when new info
hits the screen, but setting up your cursors this way means that you will not
lose your place even though new text has been added below the point where your
cursor is.

Tintin also has a nice scripting ability built in. I have found it helpful to
gag blank lines, effectively cutting down on the number of times VO might need
to interrupt itself when a new line comes in. The way to gag a blank line in
Tintin is:
#gag {^$}

I have also gagged all kinds of other unnecessary spam and am working on ways
to display critical info that are spoken faster.

These approaches have made mudding viable for me on the mac, even if it is not
quite what things were on the windows side.

HTH

Moderator note - questions on the list and getting along as adults

2012-05-05 Thread Cara Quinn
Hello everyone; It's late here and I will give this recent list situation the
attention it deserves. However, may I please ask, until tomorrow, that you all
please consider being the adults that you are and taking the opportunity to get
along with eachother.

Here's what this means.

• think before you respond. Please don't just retaliate if you feel like you
weren't understood.

• Be calm in your responses. When you do respond to someone, please explain
yourself clearly and calmly.

• Avoid name-calling or accusing others of anything. This is not your right
here. and this applies to everyone.

• If you think you're 'right' in a particular discussion, then be comfortable
with that and know that you don't need to tell others this on the list. Just be
content…

Okay, please keep the above in mind. I'll address this issue in-depth tomorrow.

Good night All and please be kind and respectful of eachother…

Thank you,

Cara :)
