It's now possible to solve these in Firefox. However, the nightly builds are not stable, and if you think the "busy" messages are annoying in Safari, they are much more frequent in Firefox. I have succeeded in getting the WebVisum extension, but at the moment, it may be more trouble than it's worth, depending on your willingness to tough it out. I'm going to try this the next time I have to solve one, though.
My other option is to use Firefox in Linux with Fusion, which works quite nicely.
