The clipping is what led me to the adjective. That's fixed now. The rest is taste. These logos are not to my taste. I have no particular issue with the colors. I think the angular "bent pipes" aesthetics of the logo make it look very dated to me. It's the kind of look that I associate with the 80's, maybe? The polytope works quite well in my opinion: it's a step away from the first obvious ones; it is a little busy (that's a minus), but it is very recognizable. I'm not so sure about the new circular version. I think the logo clashes very badly with it though: the rounded shapes don't go well with the very angular logo at all (but then I have a dislike for its typography to begin with). The same for the subscipt text on the translated logos: I cannot judge for the non-latin scripts, but the cursive slightly serif-ed font clashes (at least to my eye) horribly with the logo; they don't blend into a unity at all. Again: these things are subjective taste. However, if you're going to design logos for public consumption, you'll be faced with many different tastes and preferences. I have no advice on how to improve. Graphic design is a difficult art. I know (from experience) that house-style redesigns are usually resisted and even if you pay a lot of money for it, the result is highly variable. Most of the time, people learn to live with the new design eventually. Sometimes, the design grows on people once they get used to it. That hasn't happened to me for the sage logo typography. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "sage-devel" group.
