If you want a light Riv, get a Roadeo. Mark has his built to 18.5 lbs with Jack Browns. Put some 25 tires on their and it would be under 18. As to the QB, it's definitely heavier tubing than my Legolas. I'm 220 and I ride it on fire roads without a worry about stoutness. I also shop with it, and it carries loads fine. The only thing it lacks for loaded touring is more gears, IMHO, though if you're willing to push enough, it would handle that too.
