I'll throw in my .02 as well ;)

I had the M324's but for some reason stopped using them as I like the
A530's better. I have the A530's on 2 of my bikes (road and mountain). They
can be annoying from time to time as others have mentioned: when you stop
you have to really think for a second and fiddle with the pedal to make
sure you have the right side. I think they are weighted to flip to the clip
side up. That being said, after riding with them for a while now, I hardly
notice it anymore. The large area of the pedals allow you to easily pedal
if you put your foot down on the wrong side which is why I like these over
the M324's.

The versatility is worth it to me. If you can get past the minor annoyance,
its worth it, I have no desire to change them out as I really like being
clipped in for rides for safety reasons, but I also want to be able to go
on quick rides with normal shoes, or allow someone to ride my bike without
having special shoes. And these seem to be the best with both.

For shoes, I love these and wear them for road and mtn rides, they look
good off the bike, are stiff but not too
stiff: http://www.chromeindustries.com/us/en/footwear/city-spd/kursk-pro-2-black
