Good points to be sure. I would add two other things to be aware of and one other thought. 1 - You are probably really, really used to standing on leveled pedals when you go over a bump on the pavement. Happily, the cranks will remind you to keep pedaling when you do so. 2 - Accellerating up to warp speed is not the problem. Suddenly realizing that you cannot stop pedaling once you do so can be reasonably disconcerting. A - When turning on a fixed gear, if you are concerned about pedal strike, you can lean more with the body and less with the bicycle. Experiment with that a little bit at slower speeds and you'll see what I mean. http://www.cyclofiend.com/fixed/index.html AASHTA - http://www.sheldonbrown.com/fixed - Jim "Coasting is _still_ a pernicious habit" -- Jim Edgar cyclofi...@earthlink.net Cyclofiend Bicycle Photo Galleries - http://www.cyclofiend.com Current Classics - Cross Bikes Singlespeed - Working Bikes "You must be the change you want to see in the world."
