I'd second that. The ability to directly access the menu commands of
virtually any program from the shell in AmigaOS was a brilliant idea. I love
the idea of a *nix/Amiga crossbreed OS. I'd also love to see an OS with a
slightly more advanced permissions model with the ability for an element or
folder to always inherit certain permissions from the folder it was
currently contained within and/or the ability to set/change the defaults for
a folder to determine what happens when a new file is created. Correctly
implemented this would make the job of setting permissions less time
consuming.

Who needs a GUI when you have a shell!

Seriously, an interface that's a cross of mac os and amiga workbench would
be great.

Talk of Google's open source operating system got me thinking about the

I have heard people say that the Linux desktop experience is lacking in
some regard, at the same time the MS Windows approach to menus etc and
things like having to use the Start button to shutdown the computer are
not exactly intuitive.

What do you folks see as needing improvement in current Linux desktop
software or what would you do different to Windows if you had the luxury
of starting again ?
