Yeah but you end up with a chemical that is hazardous to the environment (because of the copper that ends up in it) and therefore tricky/time consuming to dispose of. The alternative uses peroxide and an acid (can't remember the chemical name but it's also known as 'pool acid' so something chlorine based) which is highly corrosive to the skin but virtually never needs to be thrown away - Just reoxygenated.
Maybe if I didn't live in a completely carpeted rented flat with a tiny kitchen and maybe if I wasn't inherently clumsy I would be more keen on the idea...
