Once again, I agree with Donna. As someone who has been using an Apple Watch since it debuted in April 2015, I think Janina’s expectations are not realistic. The Apple Watch is a great device, and while I am on my 6th iteration, I realize the watch has limitations, and can not be expected to be a replacement for an iPhone.

Personally, I don’t think that the watch can replace a phone. I find responding to messages a little clunky. Reacting or sending an auto-response—OK, thank you, etc.—is fine. But in my experience, dictation has had mixed success. And correcting text when dictation gets it wrong is a PITA. If I need to send a more involved response to a text, I pull out my phone. On the other hand, if all you have to do is answer OK, yes, no, I love being able to do that from my wrist. Likewise, I’m not sure how you would do advanced text entry or editing on the watch. You certainly wouldn’t want to do it without a keyboard. To the best of my knowledge, neither Pages or Notes is available on the watch, though I wouldn’t swear that I’m right about that. So I would say the use case you’re describing goes pretty far beyond the capabilities of the watch. I would also say the watch is most powerful when paired with your phone, so I don’t think it is realistic to plan on just taking your watch with you and leaving your phone at home, at least not for extended periods of time. But others may disagree, and I’d be happy to be corrected.
