But the installer already installs all needed packages. I can and will not ship all needed packages
separately from MiKTeX.
Installing the packages together with MiKTeX assures that you have a full functional, feature
complete LaTeX-system. This also assures that you have tthe latest package versions - there are
every day packages updates and the MiKTeX-developer releases them every week. So no matter when you
install LyX, you'll be up to date.

IMHO.
Yes, but to be able to download it, you need of course an open internet
connection.

I'm also wondering about this as this is the first time people complain about this and the installer
is in the current shape since LyX 1.5.1. The installer Readme clearly states that you need an open
internet connection for a full LaTeX-system.
