I don't agree. Lehman wasn't deterred. He didn't know that they were going
to put the ball in the net. I don't see any keeper thinking I'll bring him
down but so long as they score I won't get sent off.
ERIC: it wasnt to deterr lehman, he will be deterred by seeing the
game from sideline
and maybe not playing next game, but to show the rest on the pitch that
ref. is not having any funny stuff.

It isn't much of a warning when he has already sent a player off and
unbalanced the game. It is already done. Letting the goal stand and issuing
a yellow card would have been perfectly adequate in the context of this
match.
true. I do disagree wtih your wording in saying the the REF.
unbalanced the game.
lehman is responsible for his doings, not the ref.

The fact that opposition fans will delight in anything that makes it more
likely that their side is going to win is true but it isn't much of an
argument. The fact that I would be delighted to see the Watford keeper sent
off in this particular game will not make it right. I wouldn't want to see
him sent off and the goal disallowed anyway.
one should always hope for fair treatment at any time for anybody to make sure
one gets treated fairly as well when in trouble. but thats too much to
hope for of course.
I wouldnt mind us beat watf. on sunday to a dogdy ref. decision. we ve
had too much shit with refs. the last years.. whooops. knock on wood.
