Sounds like a greatplan to me, even the tri-gear! I may have to do that on N56ML as well, simply because the airport I fly out of is short and more importantly, only 40' wide. Our runway lights are high, and can inflict some serious damage if we run off the runway. One thing I would add to your plan is to add one extra bay to the back, like the Pesak/Sylvester/Ballman planes, which in my mind have become the standard bearers for the future of the KR series. I'd also keep the dark colors to a minimum....maybe reduce it to some side trim.
