That would alleviate about a third of the extra stress, since the firewall 
is about 29" aft of  the spinner backplate, and the trailing edge of the 
wing is 90".  I was assuming you'd widen the firewall and make your own 
cowling also, otherwise it'd look pretty funny from the front end with a 
stock cowling grafted onto it.  If I could break mine at 3", a plane with a 
stretched firewall could break at 4.5".

I'd hoped to use a stock KR2S cowling on mine, so I didn't widen my 
firewall, but since I ended up making my own cowling anyway, I should have. 
I remade my cowling to blend it into the fuselage better, both from a side 
view and a top view standpoint.  So widening the fuselage has its penalties, 
but leaving it stock width is not very attractive either, if you ever want 
to carry passengers.  I guess the nice thing about leaving it narrow is that 
most folks will only want to fly with you one time...
