Just for comparison I went through our shop and measured several certified aircraft to see what the approx. width at the shoulders was. Tecnam Sierra 42"....Diamond Star XLS 43"....Cirrus SR22 44"....Cessna 206 42"....Cessna P337 41"....Cessna 340 45"....Piper PA-44 42"....Piper PA-32 & PA-34 47". These measurements were to the inside of the trim, and to the inside surface of the windows would give a couple more inches. Dennis Steed, SLC Utah

I fastened temporary lywood bulkheads to my work table at specific points (firewall, fwd spar, aft par, and several in the tail). After gluing up the "side trusses"and the T-88 ad cured, the ply was epoxied and stapled in place. While the epoxy was still et, I clamped the sides to the temporary bulkheads. Doing it this way, I voided part the stresses since the plywood could shift slighty as needed. After he skins cured, the retained their shape. The temporary bulkheads also held the ides in alignment till the bottom cross members, gussets, and bottom skins were omplete. ete Klapp, building KR-2S N729PK, anton, Ohio> To: kr...@mylist.net> Subject: Re: KR> Widening the fuselage, ending Longerons> Date: Mon, 5 Jan 2009 12:04:54 -0500> From: hillabaum...@aol.com> > I made my fuselage 44 inches wide also.? I slowly bent 0Dhe sides with the plywood attached. (over 2 days). They lifted off the table in he middle higher than the wood blocks I had as a spreader. I would use some at east 2" if not 3" high next time.? I did not break anything but the sounds of racking was something that made me nervous.? I presumed it was some of the 5/8" ieces coming loose from the ply in some places.? I did not find any upon my nspection but did fillet some flox on some that look suspicious.? I can't emember the width of the bottom but I made it proportionately wider also. Mine s not flying but I have the canopy and seats in and can sit two people with out eeding a shoe horn to get in.? Good thing to because I started about 5 years go and have gained about 6 pounds each year.? I think it will be easier to put e on a diet rather than my plane.? Now if I just had an engine and some wings.> Steve Phillabaum> Shorter, Alabama> 334-740-0066> > > > > > > ______________________________________> Search the KRnet Archives at ttp://www.maddyhome.com/krsrch/index.jsp> to UNsubscribe from KRnet, send a essage to krnet-le...@mylist.net> please see other KRnet info at ttp://www.krnet.org/info.html ________________________________________________________________ ife on your PC is safer, easier, and more enjoyable with Windows Vista®. ttp://clk.atdmt.com/MRT/go/127032870/direct/01/ ______________________________________ earch the KRnet Archives at http://www.maddyhome.com/krsrch/index.jsp o UNsubscribe from KRnet, send a message to KRnet- le...@mylist.net lease see other KRnet info at http://www.krnet.org/info.html
