Why do you need a linear amp? I have a Sporty's and connected it to my antenna. It works, communication to the FBO.

Sometimes it worked great but most of the time the towers said I was unreadable. I removed it and now use the handheld as a backup on since I now have a panel mount Narco. The handheld works great now that I dumped the linear amp. What brand of linear amplifier are you planning on using?
