Unless playground politics have changed since I attended the school of
boyhood, the general idea is that you tolerate the put-downs, violence etc.
in the (sometimes vain) hope that one day real soon, you'd be the one
stealing the smaller kids' lunch money.

I suspect that, admit it or not, a lot of men have taken those life-lessons
to heart....
