To put this into some perspective, in my former marraige(s), we
weren't working in professional, high-tech jobs in a well-developed
region of the country.  In fact, much of the time we were in academia.
So the pay issue stayed the same regardless of marital status.  Not
terribly good for me, much worse for my ex-wives.
