Maybe the US automakers don't. I don't know about Ford or Stellantis, but
I've read that GM is losing money on EVs. It's not clear to me how much of
that loss has been offset by their profits from selling gas-guzzlers with
credits from their EV sales. Maybe someone else knows.

GM, Ford, (Not sure about Stellantis right now), etc.. are all loosing large sums on each EV.  Any profits are from ICE sales. Nissan Leaf might be profitable - haven't seen them included in the lists of who is loosing money on EV's. VW is closing factories, and has postponed EV development, as their EV's are also not-profitable. About the only EV makers that are significantly profitable are Tesla and BYD.
Rivian is still negative as well.

The Youtube channel "Electrified" often has charts of current manufacturer EV profitability. (I can't find the charts right now.)  Yeah, they are a pro-Tesla channel, but do try to collect info on other EV makers, and what their plans are.
