Good Evening,

   The fir and cedar trees are changing color.  Old growth is dying off, shedding needles in the wind.  Spiders are getting large, as are their webs.  I collect them as I walk through the forest :)

   The sun sent us plenty of ions this week.  Enough to support comms on many bands.  Hopefully twenty and forty meters will be good tomorrow.  Space weather says we have a period of relative calm following a day long magnetic storm.

Please join us on (or near):

14050 kHz at 2200z Sunday (3 PM PDT Sunday)
  7047 kHz at 0000z Monday (5 PM PDT Sunday)

How I decode a few of the genes on three of the chromosomes in my ecosystem:

metabolism = (float) ((CL+i)->EN & 127) + 100.0;            EN::G5  100.0 - 227.0 absorb = (float) (((CL+i)->EN & (7 << 7)) >> 7) +1.0)/16.0; EN::G4  6.25 - 50.0% satiety = (float) (((PL+i)->EN & (15 << 10)) >> 10) + 5.0;  EN::G3  5.0 - 20.0 maturity = (int) (((PL+i)->EN & (7 << 19)) >> 19) + 1;      EN::G2  1 - 8 cycles senescence = (int) (((CL+i)->EN & (31 << 22)) >> 22) + 8;   EN::G1  8 - 39 cycles poison = (float) (((PL+i)->PL & (63 << 6)) >> 6) / 63;      PL::G4  poison probability 0.0 - 1.0 strength = (float) (((PL+i)->PL & (63 << 12)) >> 12) / 63;  PL::G3  poison strength withstand = (float) (((HL+i)->HB & (31 << 20)) >> 20) / 31; HB::G3  ability to withstand poison

Survivors breed the next generation with the crossover operator, chromosome by chromosome.  I am trying to balance the energy flow through the system.  Senescence prevents immortal carnivores. Plants and herbivores do not have this problem.
