Oh and it's mature. Nexus has been going since 1988.

Heh, mature. ;)

Here's the login error from their demo site if a person tries use a non-existant account:

"Wakey, wakey, hands off Snakey (DL will have summat to say about that for certain!). Your choices at this point are somewhat limited.
1. Enter a Nick
2. Go away"

(I'd love to see the translaters do that first phrase!).

Oh... you meant "mature" as in the _code_... sorry, my misunderstanding. :)

But the mind boggles at trying to imagine getting that sort of change through the system here! :-/

Doing it wholesale is really unlikely, because it's not been proven to be better and more acceptable.

To reach that stage, we'd need to try it out in some way, and it'd need to be "acceptable" to run on the OOo (Collabnet) servers (in the same way the mailing list software does).

None of which is impossible, it should just be trialled somewhere first, seen if it works well (several aspects of that need to be considered) then if so we create the needed case for it and present it to the Sun/Collab people responsible. Then pray to [chosen deity]. ;)

Regards and best wishes,

Justin Clift
