There are some people who prefer mailing lists, some who prefer
forums, and some who prefer newsgroups.
I don't know how easy it would be to have posts on a mailing list be
placed correctly in a forum. But the "best" thing might be to have
all discussions etc available in all three formats.
[newsgroup to email/email to newsgroup currently exists.
forum to email can be done. So the only thing I don't know about is
email to forum.]

In refusing to give people the power to fail, one is condemning them to failure.

Are the underlying toolsets compatible?
Cross-linking probably works better.
I don't want the Code Snippets at OOoForums to move to OOo. I want to
be able to _easilly_ find things. OOo doesn't have that capability.
Somewhere on OOo, but not in Code snippets at OOo, is a macro for
displaying all of the languages that a document uses. How long will
it take you to find it. How long will it take you to find a similar
macro at OOoForum? [And the latter will also provide links to
discussions about the macro.][& no, I don't know if a similar macro is
at OOoForum.]

Forget about creating them. How about finding the macros, or templates
in the first place?
Seriously, why should I have to go to the French NL project for one
set of macros, the German project for a different set of macros, and
the Indian L10N project (Which is not hosted at OOo) for another set
of macros? All of these are part of "official" L10N projects. [I'm
not sure what the official status of Team Bharat is.]

redesigning OOo - if anyone is interested I am happy to discuss this
idea further.
OOo needs to be redesigned/rewritten, so that it can be Unicode
Compliant. If that process starts now, there is an even chance that
by the time Unicode 6.0 is released, OOo will be Unicode
compliant.[OOo can not display a third of the Unicode characters.]
