1º if you run other tasks, like web server, mysql server, etc in the same game server, real time priority can help. 2º VM in the most case isn't good for gaming servers, because most of servers providers don't ensures cpu resources. 3º Don't use hyperthreading for game server. HT will share the same physical core between 2 logical cores, if the first logical core is busy, the second will too(partly).
