Richard I'm not sure what model C&C you have, and the problem I had could have been C&C 41 specific, but I was getting some corrosion on the CB cable, and on the SS bolts on the lower sheave box, and at the welds on the sheave box. He explained to me that a single zinc on the shaft was too far away and out of the way to properly protect the cable and the CB box. You might think of the effectiveness of the protect as being represented by field lines, and anything within the CB trunk are not likely to be adequately protected. He suggested that I locate a small pencil zinc on the sheave box.
So, I made a new front plate for the box of sufficient thickness, drilled a hole in it, and threaded it to accommodate a small (~ 1/4") pencil zinc. I replace the zinc every year , and no longer see any further evidence of corrosion in the cable or the box. Hope you find this helpful.
