Obviously I agree.I own one of those older C&C's for several reason and "pretty" is one.but "pretty" as I am sure you know is in the eye of the beholder.sometimes I even wonder considering "pretty" as a prerequisite why there aren't more C&C 35 MKII's around.only 147 of that model ever built and I know for sure that a few have been junked already.way too bad

As you know, everything is relative, and quality costs $$$. Also, it is possible to overbuild quality into a boat, until it becomes unjustifiably expensive for the average person. ie, Swan or even Wally Yachts. It's been my experience that you can have more fun for less money, by not buying too big or too expensive. This leaves more money to have more fun doing other things. Love my C&C, but I like to dream. Presently, I dream of a cruising version of an all carbon Open 60 running on a broad reach at 18 knots under autopilot, reefed main and genneker, Winds NW at 25 to 40, Atlantic City to Block Island, 10 hrs. Or maybe a Corsair 31, same speed, less physical effort w smaller sails. Just dreaming. It's 36 degrees out and sunny and my beautiful Resolute is sleeping under a tarp, on the hard, 30 minutes away, while I answer email and avoid going out into the cold. Sometimes, price is a decider. I can appreciate the MacGregors and Ventures and other boats out there. I started with a styrafoam sailboard called a Snark, graduated to a Sunfish, to a Cape Dory 22, and spent several years boatless, windsurfing 5 to 6 dys a week, before buying another sitdown sailboat, our present C&C 34R. I got a good buy because of the market, and after 10 years have spent more on slipfees, haulouts and upgrades than the purchase price, but I wouldn't do it any different. Love the boat. Guess it picked me? I just don't think we should bash other brands of sailboats. They may like to upgrade to a C&C someday? We couldn't sail worth a damn but it didn't matter (damned dealer did not paint the swing keel when the boat was on the trailer...so beyond our sailing ineptitude we were dragging around a 4 foot barnacle carrier...talk about slow!). But...43 years later I am still excited about sailing. Is a V-21 a Mac 26? No. Two different animals. But same idea. We all gotta start somewhere. David F.
